Tiny Dancers (Ages 2-3)
In this class, your tiny dancer will learn their very first dance steps through developmentally designed imagination mixed with movement. This class introduces basic dance terminology, class etiquette, and basic body placement while intertwining creative exploration throughout the class.
Dance FUNdamentals (Ages 4-5)
This class will focus on establishing correct alignment and muscle memory, providing your dancer with the necessary building blocks that make up the foundation of dance technique. This class incorporates a combination of 3 primary dance styles – ballet, jazz, and acro – that will set your dancer up with the proper tools to ensure safe and controlled execution of their future dance skills, all while having FUN!
Acro (Ages 6-18)
Acro increases body awareness, back flexibility, overall strength, and coordination needed to execute complex skills like handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, ariels, handsprings, and more. These skills will elevate a dancer’s technical ability and overall dance experience. This class will cater to each individual at their own level.
Ballet (Ages 6-18)
As the origin of dance technique, ballet classes will teach the terminology and vocabulary that create the foundation for all other dance forms. Ballet classes include exercises at the barre, in the center, & across the floor, all of which focus on correct body alignment, placement, turn-out, & core strength to develop balance, stamina, strength, & flexibility. Ballet is elegant and fluid in nature and requires diligent training to achieve proper execution.
Contemporary (Ages 6-18)
Contemporary dance is a broad, versatile genre of commercial dance that embraces innovation, blending techniques from various genres, including classical ballet, jazz, modern dance, & lyrical dance. This genre of dance focuses more on floor work, improvisation, & storytelling and is characterized by freedom of expression, interpretation, movement, and fluidity.
Modern (Ages 6-18)
Modern dance is a broad genre of western concert dance comprised of the movement vocabulary of ballet, jazz, street dance, and Afro-Caribbean. Students will explore fundamental modern concepts such as rhythm, articulation of the torso, level and direction changes, grounded movement, floor work, and improvisation. Students will learn an understanding of kinesiological principles and be given opportunities to explore their own individual style of expressive movement.
Jazz (Ages 6-18)
Jazz dance is an infusion of ballet technique inspired by theatrical, Latin and Afro-Caribbean influences focused primarily on syncopated, rhythmic movements. Students will explore sequential combinations through a series of isolated warm-ups, strengthening and flexibility exercises, rhythmic footwork, improvisation, and stylized choreography. Its high energy nature increases a dancer's dynamic musicality and technique in leaps, turns, and kicks.
Street Dance (Ages 6-18)
Street Dance incorporates musicality, athleticism, isolation, and attitude. Street Dance encompasses Hip Hop & stems from dance battles and freestyle – which began in the streets! Dance studio culture has commercialized Street Dance to incorporate more choreography, which is how many people have come to know ‘Hip Hop’. This class will explore the many micro styles that fall under the large umbrella of Street Dance.
Tap (Ages 6-18)
Tap is a dance form that emphasizes rhythm, performed with specific shoes made to create different sounds. Tap has a rich historical background in the theater and film industry and helps dancers to refine speed, improve coordination, and heighten musical awareness.
